ACAHP Motion Adopted at EPAHP Region 10 Convergence Meeting Pushes for Local Procurement in School Feeding Programs

At the EPAHP Regional Convergence Team (RCT) Meeting of Region 10, held on March 5 at Hamersons Hotel in Cagayan de Oro, a motion introduced by ACAHP was adopted by the body. ACAHP is a member organization of EPAHP Region 10.

The RCT agreed to send a formal letter of request to Secretary Angara, urging the DepEd Central Office to issue a department memorandum. The memorandum would encourage DepEd Region 10 to implement Negotiated Procurement through Community Participation for Iron-Fortified Rice, Nutri-Bun, and banana chips under its school feeding programs.

The resolution aims to prevent the use of imported rice for Iron-Fortified Rice by traders and contractors operating under the competitive bidding modality. It also seeks to open opportunities for local farmers to supply locally produced rice through the Negotiated Procurement through Community Participation modality.

ACAHP is an advocacy platform of community-based organizations working toward sustainable public food procurement through the Negotiated Procurement through Community Participation modality.
