The Alliance of Cooperatives Against Hunger and Poverty (ACAHP) actively participated in the two-day National Inception Workshop for the Joint SDG Fund Project: Zero Hunger Accelerator – Catalysing Local Investments for Food System Transformation and Green Transition.

Held at the Astoria Plaza in the Ortigas Business District, Pasig City on May 21–22, 2026, the activity served as a critical platform for key stakeholders to discuss strategies, strengthen partnerships, and align initiatives. The shared goal is to advance sustainable food systems, promote local investments, and accelerate the country’s transition toward food security and green development.

The Zero Hunger Accelerator is a joint program of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), UN Women, and the World Food Programme (WFP). It is implemented in close collaboration with:

• The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP)

• The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) through the BARMM Food Security Task Force (BFSTF)

The program directly supports the development of inclusive and climate-resilient food systems in the Philippines by utilizing innovative blended financing solutions aligned with national and local priorities.

By anchoring itself in institutional markets—such as social protection programs and school meals—the initiative specifically aims to improve access to finance for:

• Smallholder farmers and fisherfolk

• Local cooperatives

• Women-led food enterprises

ACAHP remains committed to working alongside these international and national bodies to bridge the gap between local producers and sustainable food systems.
